About
MACKINAC ISLAND COMMUNITY THEATRE - Mamma Mia! is a feel-good musical set on a beautiful Greek island, centered around a young woman named Sophie. Sophie is preparing for her wedding, but she doesn’t know who her father is, as her mother, Donna, never told her. Sophie finds her mother’s old diary and discovers three possible fathers: Sam, Bill, and Harry. Wanting to have her father walk her down the aisle, Sophie secretly invites all three men to the wedding, without telling Donna.
As the story unfolds, Donna, who runs a small hotel on the island, is reunited with her former lovers, and chaos, comedy, and romance ensue. The musical features classic ABBA songs, like “Dancing Queen,” “Take a Chance on Me,” and “Mamma Mia,” which are woven into the storyline. The heart of the story is about love, family, and discovering who you truly are, with plenty of humor and touching moments along the way.
The show, originally a stage musical, was later adapted into a popular 2008 film, which helped bring its joyous spirit and catchy music to an even wider audience..
